I've got a part of me looking forward to the upcoming presidential election season. I suppose to write a (fake) blog like this I've got to enjoy politics a lot. I also hope that somewhere in the debate, the clash of view against view will produce truth. That's what it is designed to do, and it so often does it. After you've seen a point argued for and against, you often see the whole truth of the issue, and know what your decision must be.
Of course, there'll be a lot of political mudslinging. A lot of it is unfair, and depressing, but the bright side is that it allows us to do comparison shopping and live out "caveat emptor" in our political lives. I'd personally prefer to learn of all of a politician's skeletons in the closet before an election.
Admittedly, most people have indeed made their decisions on most of the issues before they cast a vote for president; and I have to admit that I'm one of them. But there are some issues I haven't quite made up my mind on. Hm. None come to mind, but I'm sure even a zealous ideologue like me has some. More often, there are varying ways that we could implement a policy that I'm generally for, and I'm hoping that the presidential race will help us figure out which implementation is the best.
So here's hoping for some politics over the coming months.
