Christmas and New Year's Posting

All around the world are soldiers far from their families during Christmas, and New Year's Day, and many other holidays as well. Some have been injured or have made the ultimate sacrifice and are separated from their families and friends in those ways. I thank them for their service to this country, for helping us remain free despite the pain it causes them and their loved ones.

Yet such pain is not the only reality. The truth is, we can still experience joy even when we are having such serious problems as the ones I have outlined above. We can have joy knowing that there are good people still defending freedom around the world, and that even in our suffering, there is meaning.

Remembering that, I wish to all people, here and around the world, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
