Memorial Day

It's difficult to know how to speak in the presence of death, where mourning and separation weigh heavily. Great costs have been paid to provide freedom. It's hard to know what the proper response is. Obviously gratitude and an interest in preserving freedom are proper responses. Sometimes they feel insufficient in the face of the final sacrifice many in the armed services made, the costs paid by them and still being paid by those they left behind. However inadequate they may feel, gratitude and a love of freedom are proper responses. We need not be maudlin, but we should be respectful. Have a good Memorial Day.
